Manchester Food & Drink Festiva

From 6 - 16 October Long renowned for its famed Rusholme Curry Mile, real ale pubs and Chinatown, Manchester has also earned an enviable reputation for the many chic, world-class restaurants in the city. The 11-day Food and Drink Festival celebrates the city's culinary status in style. Over 100 venues across the city host numerous gastronomic events, aiming to suit all ages, palates and pockets and to demonstrate the range of excellence and diversity on the city's food and drink scene. This event focuses on fair trade and cultural diversity, while continuing the focus on healthy eating, skills and training issues in the industry and local producers. Fringe festivals extend as far as the surrounding boroughs of Salford, Wigan and Bury. Look out for celebrity chefs, cookery demos, charity cook-offs, parties, competitions, the fantastic farmers market and of course, delicious food and drink. Farmers Markets are organized for both Tib Street and Albert's Square and beers brewed by Manchester's four independent breweries, as well as its plethora of microbreweries, are a focal point for public tasting. The festival culminates with the prestigious Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards Gala Dinner, which is held at the Town Hall on the last day.
