Monument will mark Manchester |

| Soon people will be able to observe on a monument, standing where the town of Manchester, South Dakota was once located that will be dedicated to the people who lived there.
Eight miles west of De Smet, the town was destroyed by one of 67 tornadoes that hit eastern South Dakota on June 24th, 2003. It is one of the memorable events in the community’s history and the names of more than 500 families that have lived in Manchester Township since the area was settled in the early 1880. The dedication ceremony will be held 23 June.
